私は夏が嫌いだ。 一時も離れない夏の記憶が体にまとわりついている。 そして開放感ある夏の景色が私から緊張感を奪う。 夏という季節が私の全てに呪いのように影響を与えている。

“I hate summer.”
This may be surprising to hear, given that I’ve been surfing since I was a child.

Even in this humid life hemmed in by asphalt and concrete,
the moment I close my eyes, towering white clouds and a clear blue sky rush to mind.
And even in the thick of a bustling crowd where conversations and background noise mingle, if I listen closely, the sound of crashing waves never leaves me.
Though I chased my dreams, stumbled, failed, and lost it all,
deep down inside, I remain unchanged̶forever that child
waving goodbye from a sun-drenched summer day.

I hate summer.
Memories of summer cling to my body, never leaving me for a moment.
And the sheer openness of the summer scenery robs me of my edge.
The season itself has cast a shadow over my entire being, as if it were a curse.
